5 marketing campaign ideas for New Year’s resolution mindset

HNY! I hope you’re feeling refreshed from the holidays and looking forward to generating a ton of inbound leads for your SaaS business this year. If you follow the strategies, campaign ideas and tips I share in this weekly blog, you’ll surely have a record year!

My first tip for 2024 is to capitalise on the New Year’s resolution mindset that many of your prospects will be currently experiencing.

For many businesses, January is a great month for sales and marketing teams. I put this down to two main reasons:

  1. New budgets are released
  2. The New Year’s resolution mentality

For point 1, you should consider increasing your ad spend and general marketing output to capture the increased demand during this period (if you feel it’s relevant to your industry).

For point 2, you should create a new year’s campaign. Here are some ideas:

Create Ads, email newsletters, social posts, and a landing page tapping into this mindset

Marketing is about creating content that connects with people’s mindsets, particularly around problems they suffer from. At this time of year, a common mindset is, “I must finally solve that problem this year!”.

I suggest creating a new landing page supported by ads, social media posts and an email newsletter with messaging along the lines of:

Looking to solve [problem] in 2024?

Make [your solution] your New Year’s resolution

New Year’s Resolution LinkedIn Poll

Create a LinkedIn poll or post that asks your audience about their New Year’s resolutions or goals within your industry.

Reach out to anyone who engaged with the poll or post. Ask if they’d like to chat about how you can help them reach their goal.

Inform your target audience about what’s coming in 2024

A bunch of potential customers will be patiently and secretly keeping an eye on your brand, waiting for the right time to get in touch with you. They could be waiting for a particular integration or feature to be implemented.

Don’t wait for the product team to implement these upgrades before you start marketing them. Send email newsletters and social media posts to announce what’s coming in 2024. Offer people the chance to get in touch to learn more. Better still, create a waitlist campaign.

Publish an eBook that predicts trends and developments in your industry for the upcoming year. Promote it as a valuable resource for subscribers to gain insights and stay ahead of the curve.

Offer a New Year discount or extended free trial

Discounts and special offers go down well at any time of year. Consider using New Year’s as an excuse to offer one.

If discounts are out the window, consider extending your free trial period as a New Year campaign. People are busy in January. They may sign up for a free trial but run out of time to use it. An extended free trial in January may help push those stragglers over the line.
